At Gaffney General, tolerating the noise, but I’m not sure how long I’ll last. The owner is a lovely guy, but speaks at the level of a A380 at takeoff. Really jarring. The Ibiza soundtrack doesn’t help…. I was in the habit of bringing the noise cancelling headphones in, and I really should get back to that.
Still, I must get disciplined, so lets write, even if it’s garbage.
Very pleasant morning so far, even if distractions meant we were late out the door this morning. He he. A lovely and sunny 10 degrees, although I’ve been in Melbourne long enough to know it’ll be woeful by 2. I did consider going into the art gallery this morning, but there’s lots of housework to do, so I’ll be a good housewife instead. I’ll go in tomorrow.
I had to swallow some humbling embarrassment this morning. Yesterday I finished off my new passport application, only to find my new passport (that I’d organised late last year) in my inbox as I cleaned it. This morning Zee was very comforting about it, rightly pointing out that done it during the chaos of closing up Macquarie and moving here, but it’s still unsettling! At least I didn’t spend any money on the new one (although that was literally one hour away when the new one turned up).
Last night I ran into our neighbour last night. I’ve really got to figure out his name. We are calling him “Sigh”, but I can’t find a real Indian name or diminutive to match. He was taking his new fiancé to the airport, so she could return to the UK and pack up her London life before moving out here. They’re an odd combination. He a good looking 40, working in hospitality with a range of odd interests. She’s a high powered business woman, immaculately turned out and extremely driven. There will be some interesting times reconciling all that!
Zee mentioned that the nursing home website is taking a long time. She’s no idea how this puts me on edge (and would be horrified if she knew). It is indeed taking a long time. Partially it’s while I overcome my own lack of self belief that it can actually go anywhere (see yesterday), but also it’s proving difficult to get it to a point where I’m happy with it. Her asking is probably motivating (although I’ve done a lot on it lately) and that is where not being on your own is a good thing.
