Yeah, so it’s not going to be daily…..
Much of the time has been getting my work space together, although I’ll admit 25% of that was avoiding the scary work ahead. But once I got started, I refined my big “C++ and Python topics I must be comfortable with, at least theoretically, but preferably with real coding”. I’ll have to work on the title. I also have a big folder, organised by the topic list above, with loads of web stuff I grabbed and printed (with work’s blessing) before I left. I can’t study off screens, and too many books make me fear that I’m missing real world use-cases. I’m happy with lots of guru overviews, hints and gotchas, all written out for me to plough through.
And so it begins. Nothing like some move semantics to make you want to go do the ironing….
Barb sent a Tim Ferris ted talk over. He’s a man with loads of demons, but is pretty inspiring with both his battles, and his searches for wisdom. He’s also a little scary with some of his favourite quotes, like “easy choices, hard life, hard choices, easy life”. Whatever merits that has, it does unsettle me, as I work towards a *relatively” simple path back to full earnings potential (yay?), but with possible less soul feeding potential. Mmm.
